CPB—Sisters, hermanas,

CDV—Amigas, Compañeras, We would like to share with you, as we have shared in the past, the struggles that accompany any major strides or improvements in the conditions that affect our lives.

CPB—And what, may you ask, are the aspirations of Hispanas?

CDV—¿Que metas persiguen las Hipanas?

CPB—We, the Hispanic women of America, can repeat forcefully, in unison, with you: WE WANT EQUALITY.

CDV—BUSCAMOS LA IGUALDAD.

CDV—We are the fastest growing segment of the population and in the coming decade the strength of our numbers will be felt.

CPB—Nuestra población aumenta rápidamente y para el 1980 seremos la minoría mas numerosa en este país.

CDV—What are our issues?

CPB—¿Cuales son nuestros problemas?

CDV—They are the very same issues you are trying to resolve, to move women forward.

CPB—Nuestros problemas son empleo, educación, salud, vivienda.

CDV—Our problems are the age-old ones of employment, education, health, housing, etc.—the whole list of issues covered in the draft Plan of Action.

CPB—What do we seek to convey as Hispanas?

CDV—¿Que deseamos ustedes comprendan?

CPB—Que necesitamos el reconocimiento de ustedes, con respeto a nuestra herencia cultural y linguística y el aprecio a nuestra contribución al enriquecimiento de este pueblo, de esta nación.

CDV—We seek—nay—demand, your recognition and respect for our culture and linguistic heritage, your appreciation of our contribution to the enrichment of this nation.

CPB—Why do we claim double jeopardy?

CDV—¿Por qué creemos el discrimen es mas agudo contra nosotras?

CPB—Because discrimination against us is two-pronged: because of sex and because of origin.

CDV—El discrimen que afrontamos es doble: por nuestro sexo y por nuestro origen.

CPB—What do we want to stress?

CDV—The tenacity and dedication of all minority women to walk apace with the rest of society in dignity and collaboration, to proclaim that we have Unity-Unidad. Please shout these key words with us—UNITY-UNIDAD! That we seek EQUALITY-IGUALDAD!

CPB—La tenacidad y determinación de todas las mujeres minoritarias de caminar a la par con el resto de ustedes en dignidad y colaboración. We believe in a common destiny that will bind us together in our efforts for the advancement of women.

CDV—Creemos en un destino comun que nos unirá en nuestros esfuerzos por el mejoramiento en la condición de la mujer.

CPB—We believe that blacks, whites, Chicanas, Cubanas, Puertoriqueñas, Native and Asian Americans—the whole pluralistic spectrum of our society—can join hands and we urge you to join hands with your neighbor now and, as we will do, join your voices with ours in proclaiming the greatness of American women:

CDV—Unánse con nosotras y extiendan la mano a la persona que esté cerca de ustedes para proclamar en coro, al unísono, la grandeza de la mujer americana:

CPB—¡QUE VIVA LA MUJER AMERICANA—ARRIBA—ARRIBA!

CDV—UNITY—EQUALITY!
