Abstract
![]()
For the National Woman's Party (NWP), lobbying congress and state legislators to pass the suffrage amendment and then mounting an equal rights initiative were very costly enterprises. The documents in this project examine how the leaders of the NWP raised money to support their lobbying efforts, illustrate the challenges tbey encountered as they carried out their fund-raising activities, and demonstrate the price the NWP paid for its reliance on a single major donor, Alva E. Belmont.
